MegaTraders is a dedicated group of former City of London investment bankers who decided it was time to re-think the way trading is conducted. Sure, it is easy to get market quotes over the internet, but the way the information is rendered is mostly of little use to a serious, commited, megatrader. Hence the market for desktop trading platforms. However, this makes you a slave to your desk.
Taking a day off work without looking at the markets could leave you with serious losses, thus necessitating a daily commute on the hot, sweaty and packed London Transport system followed by a roller-coaster, high-noise, high-stress day at a city desk. Every minute away from your desk becomes stressful. At home you can't sleep, have to get a trading platform there too and watch it endlessly at night. By the time you're 30 your hair has fallen out and you have bags under your eyes that look like kangaroo pouches! The men fair no better either! There's got to be a better way to make money than this.
Many internet sites show static charts and the indicators they use are often old-school, rendering the charts of little value. We wanted to create a website useful to position traders and long-term investors that appreciate quality of life.
When we say quality of life we mean you decide what you do with your day. Could this be just another day in your life? ... travel to a remote palm fronted beach, snorkel in warm tropical waters, being pampered by your best friends. Later drop into an internet cafe, check the markets, place some orders (if needed) then an afternoon round of golf and 2 hours in the gym before a night out on the town.
Joking aside, making money is a serious business. Still, you could have a lifestyle like this. It's entirely up to you.
Troy deLeon (the founding member of the MegaTraders team) was educated at Brunel University, London where he graduated from the Mathematics Faculty with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science.
It was during his time as a contractor for the European Space Agency that he developed an interest in mathematical modelling and in particular the application of it in the financial markets, primarily for commodity analysis.
During his time at Inmarsat he learned the benefits of discriminators in microwave technology and could see a usage in filtering noise from market price activity.
In his transition to the investment banking industry, Troy researched the work of the market gurus of the day in his quest to discover the Holy Grail. Focussing attention on technical analysis, he soon discovered errors and omissions in the work of the so called experts. It soon became clear that many of these veterans (aka has-beens) maybe never found the answer to the markets after all? Troy decided to find out why. Perhaps some of the answers can be found in:
Some of the prestigious companies in the square mile of London that have acquired his services prior to going independent:
With over 15 years experience in the financial sector, to date, Troy has prototyped over 500 technical chart indicators. His mathematical formulae often come to him in his dreams. Not bad for a night's work, eh?
"The #1 thing I learned as a commodity trader was to have a finite trade exit strategy based on risk and technical factors. No matter what frame of mind I am in or predujiced opinion I may hold, these rules always give me trusted instructions what to do. Over 90% of traders and investors don't have any exit strategy and are so doomed to lose money for which I am grateful to duly receive". Troy deLeon.
